Happy 1 week Birthday to our sweet Isabelle! All three of us made it through our first week in the NICU! Her doctors had great news for us today and explained that her repeat brain ultrasound showed some resolution of her bleed. When she was first born an ultrasound of her brain revealed a level 1/2 intraventricular hemorrhage. Today’s repeat showed a decrease in size and now is considered a grade 1 which is wonderful news. The doctors explained to us that these bleeds can be quite common in premature infants and they usually see resolution at the end of the first month. Isabelle is also back up to her birth weight (just slightly) above. She’s weighing in at a hefty (almost) 2lbs ;).
I was able to kangaroo with Isabelle for 2 hours which was wonderful. She slept the whole time nestled into my t-shirt. Isabelle’s nurse this week, Lillian is wonderful and truly adores her. She was explaining to us that Isabelle is quite tired today and resting after a big day yesterday. Apparently, she hasn’t been as feisty today. So we will let her rest this evening and will be back to see her again tomorrow.
Mike and I wanted to thank all of Isabelle’s visitors who came this past week to meet her and bring us so many yummy treats. If you’d like to meet her, please let us know and we can find a time for a visit.
Our little burrito under the blanket getting some much needed alone time.
So grateful for these wonderful updates! I hope to visit soon!
