Man, I’m fat… like no joke, I don’t like to make excuses but this baby has put an easy 8lbs around my midsection. I’ve been fighting the urge to use the next belt hole and have resorted to ratchet straps to fit into my existing pants. (last part was an exaggeration but you get the idea.) I’ll blame the stress, constant fast-casual take out and all of you nice people who keep sending brownies and treats. (keep em coming 😉 ) We’ve returned to the gym and I’m doing what I can to stay out of the cookie jar but getting back down to fighting weight before Izzy comes home will be a tall order.

Izzy, on the other hand, was able to do something that people in my predicament only dream of doing, she LOST weight by eating a full meal. Wouldn’t that be nice… Isabelle made a huge stride forward yesterday and almost finished her entire bottle within the 30-minute time limit, without choaking and was able to pace herself with breaks for breathing. Susan said that isn’t easy for little babies. As good as this sounds, the extra effort that she expended to devour the bottle left her exausted for the remainder of the day and at her evening weigh-in she lost 20 grams. Maybe a big diaper? Maybe extra time on the treadmill? But most likely it was added energy needed to stay awake for 30 minutes to drink. Like I said… wouldn’t that be a nice problem to have. “Thanks Mom for cooking this amazing thanksgiving dinner, I’m going to sleep for 24 hours now and drop 5 lbs!” … said no one ever.

Orherwise our baby is perfect. Izzy graduated from the Isolet to a crib and has managed to keep her temperature up. This could be another cause of weight loss because she expends more energy to keep herself warm, but with winter and skiing on the horizon she better learn to keep herself warm. Mommy doesn’t wait for cold kids on a powder day.

We owe you a video of her eating, but it is hard to bottle feed and document with the phone at the same time, we promise to make that happen in the near future. In the meantime, look at her pacifier skills.
